Coalition Must Strengthen Independent Media Worldwide
The incoming German government must provide greater support for exile media and independent newsrooms in Eastern Europe, Asia, and other regions worldwide. This demand comes from a group of German media organizations, including Reporter Without Borders, Network for Border Crossing Journalism n-ost and Journalists In Need Network (jinn), in a letter addressed to the coalition negotiation teams. In a joint letter with other NGOs focused on Eastern Europe, we express our solidarity with the civil society organizations affected by the CDU/CSU parliamentary group’s inquiry. This broad attack sows distrust towards non-governmental organizations and calls their work into question.
