Call for Applications: Fellowships and Micro-grants

About the Programme

The programme provides financial and consultative support for journalists from Russia's regions. Journalists currently located either inside or outside Russia are eligible to participate. Financial support comes in two forms: micro-grants for individual work, and fellowships for internships or collaborative projects with independent media outlets. This initiative strengthens Russian independent media in exile by providing free, original content and fostering connections with regional journalists from Russia.

To participate, submit an application describing your media project, story, or investigative hypothesis. Include a budget request between €1,500 and €3,000, and specify your preferred media outlet for publication or internship. Following selection and approval of l pitches, you will meet with editorial teams to finalise project objectives. All projects must be completed by the end of 2024.

Eligibility Criteria

• Primary criterion: quality of your story description, publication topic, or investigative hypothesis
• Secondary criterion: previous publications (please include one to three examples of your published media projects in your application)
• The project must be completed by the end of 2024
• Applications are welcome from emerging journalists from Russia's regions, whether currently located inside or outside Russia
